Interior and Exterior Painting

House painting is never an easy task. There are so many things for you to consider and do before you start painting the walls of your home. First of all, you need to choose the paints, paint thinners, finishes and primers. The most difficult part here is to choose the best paints. The paints for interior and exterior painting can be either water-based or oil-based. Water-based paints are ideal for the wall painting. They dry very fast and the surfaces covered with such paints are easy to clean. Oil-based paints, in their turn, are better suited for the woodworks. As for example, you can repaint your old kitchen cabinet with such paints.

Once you have made a decision as to the paints, the next thing for you to do is to buy the tools for the exterior or interior painting. You may need such tools as brushes and rollers, and you can either buy them at your local stores or you can order them online. Please note that if there are any holes or cracks in the walls, you may want to fix them before you proceed to the painting works. This is where you will need the primers. You may also want to wash and sand the walls before you apply any paints to them. If you are planning to do the exterior painting works, be sure to power wash the walls. Check all the shingles and siding for splitting. Make sure that the nails have not popped out. Use a special tape to cover all those areas that you want to leave unpainted.

One of the main things to remember about painting is that you cannot paint everything at once. All interior and exterior painting is done little by little. The first coat of paint must dry before you apply another coat. This is why you need to choose the right time for painting. It is always a good idea to paint the walls in summer, because you may want to keep the windows and doors open till your painting works are finished. You may also want to keep your children and pets away from the painted areas of your house.
