Paint Removal

Interior or exterior repainting can be hardly imagined without paint removal. You cannot apply the new paint on top of the old paint. You also cannot apply any other wall covering if the walls are painted. The good news is that paint removal is not the hardest work, and you can easily do it yourself. But before you start it, you need to choose the most suitable way to remove the paint from the walls. There are a number of paint stripping techniques, and you may want to learn more about these techniques to choose the best one. Sanding, heating, and sandblasting are the most popular paint removal techniques, but in certain cases you it may take special chemicals to strip the paint.

The best way to remove paint from wooden and flat surfaces is to use the technique known as sanding. For this technique, you may need such tools as manual or mechanical sanders. Alternatively, you can use sandpapers. If the surface is too fragile or delicate, choose a special electrical sander over mechanical ones. And in case the surface is not that fragile, you can go for other paint removal techniques. As for example, the process of paint stripping will be much faster with an electrical heat gun. The only difficulty here is to constantly keep it in motion. You do not want to damage the surface. Even if it is not made of wood, you still can burn the holes in it. Also, make sure you have a bottle of water ready at hand. In case of any doubts, call the contractor to do the heating works for you.

Another effective way to remove paint is to apply chemicals. In fact, chemical paint removal is considered to be the fastest and easiest way. All you need to do to strip the paint with chemicals is to wipe them on the walls. Please note that some chemicals are incredibly toxic. Hence, you need to ventilate the rooms properly when doing chemical paint stripping works. You also need to wear some protective cloth, respirator and gloves to protect yourself from any contacts with skin.
