Of all other ways to change the appearance of your house, coating it with stucco paint is probably the most traditional and classy one. The stucco exterior painting is a good insulator. It looks incredibly stylish on the surfaces.  Basically, all stucco paints are made of water, sand, and Portland cement. This is why stucco paints are so durable and practical. The uneven texture of the stucco exterior paints can hardly be broken or chipped. However, the painting requires a stable base to prevent the surface from cracking. If there are any holes or cracks in the walls, you may need to apply caulking or patching materials before painting the exterior.

Before you paint the walls with stucco, make sure you have cleaned or even power washed the surface. You do not want the pain to blend with debris, dirt, or dust. In case you do not know how to work with a water pressure, ask the professionals to do power washing for you. Once you have finished the preparation process, don’t forget to cover those areas which you are not planning to paint. You can cover them with tarpaulin or plastic. You can also use special covering tape for such purposes. The areas you absolutely must cover are the doors, windows, roof shingles, pieces of siding, bushes, drainpipes, lighting fixtures, and so on.

Stucco paints are offered in a great variety of types and colors. The best thing about stucco is that you can mix the colors in any way you wish. You can also apply stucco paint on top of the old paint, but it is highly recommended to remove the old layers of paint and to clean the surface before you apply stucco paint. You can also mix stucco with an additive to make the surface more stable and durable. Such mixture will protect the walls from cracking, chipping, or peeling and will prolong the lifespan of the wall coating.
