Wallpaper Interior Removal
Wallpaper Interior Removal
There can be many reasons for you to remove your old wallpapers. If they are faded, dirty, or simply outdated, you may want to replace them with something new and fresh. The new wallpaper or any other wall covering cannot be applied while the old wallpaper is still on the wall. Hence, you need to remove it as soon as you can. Wallpaper interior removal is a very simple process, but you need some practice and patience to do it properly. You also need such tools as a wallpaper stripper, scoring tool, screwdriver, scrapers, paint brushes, garbage bags, rollers, sponges, drop sheets, washing liquid, and a step ladder. Alternatively, you can use a special device called a wallpaper steamer. With this device, all the wallpaper removal works will be much easier for you.
If you are planning to do all the removal works yourself, make sure you have personal protective equipment. The room must be properly ventilated. Hence, you may need an electric fan. You also need to keep the windows open for as long as you do the works. If there is no way for you to remove furniture from the rooms, cover it with plastic. Don’t forget to isolate the electricity to prevent any accidents. If you are not planning to change the flooring, be sure to cover the floors with special canvas drop sheets. Remember that canvas sheets are not as slippery as plastic sheets.
The process of wallpaper removal starts in the upper corner of the wall. You need to move a scoring tool in the slow circular motions to let it make the holes and to allow the stripping liquid to penetrate. The stripper must dissolve the adhesive before you will be able to remove the wallpaper. Once the adhesive is dissolved, it should not be a problem for you to remove the wallpapers. You can do the same task with a steamer. If you have finished the work and some paper scraps are still on the wall, try to apply more stripping liquid. After the job is done, all you need to do is to wash the walls and they are ready for another repainting or refinishing.
