Do you enjoy creating custom WordPress websites? This Front-End Developer is a senior-level role, with day-to-day responsibilities of leading large projects, and training mid and junior developers.

The role is responsible for building the ‘client-side’ of our web applications, and translating our company and customer needs into more complex functional and appealing interactive applications. You will oversee the development of websites and assists the development team, and acts as a reference point for designers and project managers. This role is 90 day contract to hire full time.

DEVELOPMENT WORK:
• Lead development of large projects autonomously
• Oversee development on small and medium projects
• Ability to balance multiple projects in development
• Execute development projects with efficiency and accuracy
• Adapt existing theme frameworks to create a unique client experience
• Launch websites independently
• Translate complex technology to simple language
• Full-stack understanding
• Expert HTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript skills
• Perform troubleshooting after launching and while hosting a website
• Tech-savvy professional, who is curious about new digital technologies and aspires to combine usability with visual design
• Constantly looking for and evaluating new tools
• Able to create a functional and attractive digital environment for our company, ensuring great user experience
• Willing to learn something new, not rigid in beliefs or expectations

STRATEGIC WORK:
• Learn from senior account and design teams the strategy of design and communications
• Leverage user insights and analytics into development decisions, working with design at user experience stages
• Keen sense of design principles and how they play into web builds
• Understand and enact Glantz capabilities

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree
• Senior-level, Minimum 7 years of proven success in development
• Relevant agency experience in development
• Strong communication skills
• Attention to detail

• Custom WordPress themes
• HTML
• CSS via SASS or other CSS preprocessor
• PHP
• JavaScript
• jQuery
• Experience with build tools such as Gulp
• Git

• Familiar with Photoshop, Illustrator or Sketch
• SEO understanding
• WooCommerce
• WordPress plugin development
• HTML email templates
• AJAX
• SVG animation
• SQL with the ability to query databases

ACCOUNTABILITY:
• Stays within budgets and timelines
• Balances multiple projects at a time
• Maintains daily timesheets
• Maintains approximately 40 hours/week of working time (8:30-5:30ish) with some flexibility for early or late meetings or emergency work

GROWTH EXPECTATIONS:
• In 6 months: Develop large projects autonomously, bring to the team a new method or strategy to the development process
• In 1 year: Define path for one new skill for continued learning, potential for future growth into Development Director

This job is currently working remote due to COVID. The opportunity can be local in Evanston / Chicago, or we are open to this role being 100% remote in the United States.
